Brief Description of the Tall Timber Bulkhead Project:

In September 2003, the Fort Berthold Development Corporation was awarded the above contract, which was completed within thirty (30) days. FBDC removed part of the existing bulkhead, install temporary shoring and reconstruction the bulkhead, and backfill using a barge and other miscellaneous equipment. Hurricane Isabel caused additional damage when the project was 90% complete. FBDC and the ACOE responded quickly and raised part of the elevation of the existing bulkhead by 16”. FBDC assisted in the design for the repair of the bulkhead. FBDC had to remove additional earth below sea level and install additional shoring, marine plywood and a geo-technical fabric. While the work was progressing on the bulkhead repair, FBDC also cleaned up debris from Isabel using additional labor and equipment.
