Brief Description of the Smithsonian Pavement
Repairs Project:
In April 2004, the Fort Berthold Development Corporation
was awarded the above contract, which was completed
in September 2004. FBDC milled the North & West
Access Road, cleaned out culverts, adjusted manholes,
repaved, and stripped the areas. Upon removal of the
existing pavement FBDC found that the existing sub-grade
was contaminated. FBDC responded quickly and removed
and replaced with the proper stone base. In the process,
FBDC performed emergency electrical repair and added
asphalt removal while maintaining the current construction
schedule. FBDC and our subcontractor found an existing
water drainage problem and resolved it by forming asphalt
into the curb and performed additional pavement repair
at no additional cost to the user.
